Are you experiencing difficulties with your headphones and jack socket and are unsure of what to do? Our team of technical experts has put together a comprehensive list of steps to help you resolve your issues.
1. Clean your device
- Use a toothpick to carefully clean the charging/headphone port
- Insert the toothpick into the port and gently move it along the interior
- Check for any debris and wipe the toothpick clean using a paper towel or cloth
- Repeat the process until the toothpick comes out clean
2. Check the volume settings and accessory functionality
- Ensure that the volume is not on mute
- For iOS devices, use the external buttons or Volume slider in Control Center to adjust the volume
- For Samsung devices, press the Volume up and down keys and drag the slider left or right to adjust it
- Check if the problem is caused by the accessory itself by playing some audio (like your favorite song)
- If no sound comes out, try another set of headphones. If it works, the issue comes from the accessory. If it doesn't, move on to the next steps
3. Update your software
iOS devices:
- Update your software directly on your smartphone
- Back up your device with iCloud or on your computer
- Plug your device into a power source and ensure that you are connected to Wi-Fi
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update
- Choose the software update that you wish to install
Android devices:
- Go to Settings > System > System update
Follow the steps that appear on the screen to check your update status and install updates if available
